Further appeal for winter shelter volunteers

A new request has been made for volunteers to help run a church-based winter shelter and a second training event for volunteers has been arranged. The new request comes from the Vicar of All Saints Edmonton, where the shelter would operate on Sunday nights between 2nd January and 13th March 2016. Churches providing shelter during the coldest weeks

A winter shelter scheme for people who are suffering from homelessness is seeking to recruit volunteers and raise funds to cover operating costs.  Several churches in Enfield borough will be used as shelters, including St John's in Palmers Green. We've written before about how North London Samaritans would like to restore the "Tin Tabernacle" at Bowes Park and use it to run their live-saving services.  Now the insurance company Aviva has included it in the Aviva Community Fund.  You can register with the Community Fund and will be given ten votes to distribute as you choose between the 3000+ projects. Depending on how many votes it collects, the Shaftesbury Hall Refurbishment Project (to use its official title) could receive.......
