Help for Hunger, set up by mother of four and PG resident Rosie Hurndall, is planning to provide 900 Christmas hampers of food and gifts for hungry local people this year. Rosie is appealing for donations of items for the hampers and of money.

Enfield's first community kitchen has opened in a disused church in Ponders End. Initially, it will be open one day a week, providing free food, utensils, hobs and ovens to people who cannot afford to buy food or to turn on their cookers.

The charity ReachOut is expanding its work into new areas of London and looking for volunteers from the Palmers Green community to act as after-school mentors of young people. Helping them grow in character and confidence, giving them the tools and networks they need to live good, happy and successful lives. A couple of weeks ago I wrote about Anne Nicholls' work to relieve period poverty, both initially in Kenya, and more recently in Enfield. Later this month she's off to Kenya to continue her work, but before that, on 12th June, in conjunction with Jackie Lee of North London Yoga, she's running a Wellbeing Day at Mayfield Tennis Club. They've invited lots of small, local businesses to join them and share their expertise on fitness, healing, health or general wellbeing.
