Protect our parks and green spaces?

Parks it seems are good for us all, including as carbon sinks and hence aiding climate change plans but as the linked article points out, local authority budgets have been squashed to such an extent that parks, a non discretionary area, are under threat.
“the appetite for protecting green spaces is there, we need civic leaders and local councillors to come on board urgently”
This is ideally a non-partisan issue where all local parties could publicly commit to saving and protecting, ideally enhancing, the borough’s parks and other green spaces as part of their May 2022 local election manifesto.
