What future for the Fox?
The licensing committee agreed last week that the Fox could resume live music events, subject to triggering of an automatic cut-off device if the music gets too loud, but how effective this will be remains to be seen. Between architects, council, developers and builders, something went badly wrong when it came to blocking out noise in the new flats - it's not yet clear who. The small pub chain Whelans, who came to the rescue of the pub when no-one else seemed interested and invested half a million in fitting the Fox out, are leaving, and Heineken subsidiary Star will run it directly. However, it's unclear whether Star are in it for the long term.
The Fox is a valuable asset for the Palmers Green community. We don't want to lose it.

Enfield Town Liveable Neighbourhood: construction of phase 1 scheduled for this summer
Enfield Council's 'Liveable Neighbourhoods' project for improvements to the public realm in Enfield Town has already progressed through four stages of public engagement since 2019, designed to find out people's views and improve the design. Funding is now in place for phase 1 - covering the north western corner of the scheme - and the statutory consultation period has begun, running until 3rd March.
