Take a tour of Broomfield Park's flowerbeds
Back in the day the council was able to employ a complete brigade of gardeners to tend its parks. Alas, that day has long gone, and not just in Enfield, but volunteers have come to the rescue of the many flower beds in Broomfield Park, including the long border alongside the historic walls.
On Saturday, Elizabeth Dobbie from the Friends of Broomfield Park's conservatory group will be taking people on a half-hour walk around the beds, starting at 3pm. You'll come away refreshed in mind and body and better informed about plants into the bargain. Meet by the bandstand.
And while we're on the subject of Elizabeth and the Conservatory, don't miss her article about our own mini-Kew Gardens on the Enfield Dispatch website. (Photograph from a Facebook post by Georgia Lagou) Read more
