Piano recital by Maximo Tirimo in aid of Maxability

Saturday 27 April 7.00pm

19 Greenacre Walk N14 7DB

202404 maxability concert

Martino Tirimo joins us with this amazing programme:

BEETHOVEN Fantasy in G minor Op.77
BEETHOVEN Sonata No.32 in C minor Op.111
CHOPIN Nocturne in C sharp minor Op. posth.
CHOPIN Polonaise-Fantaisie in A flat Op.61
CHOPIN Waltz in C sharp minor Op.64 No.2
CHOPIN Waltz in A flat Op.42
CHOPIN Ballade No.1 in G minor Op.23

As Martino has been performing before Maxability audiences for so many years, his exceptional musicianship may already be well-known to you; but as tonight’s programme includes works by both Beethoven and Chopin, here are a couple of relevant critiques.

After reprising all existing Beethoven recordings, this is what the Spectator’s music critic, Damian Thompson (who will be with us tonight), had to say about Martino’s 2022 recording of Beethoven’s complete works for solo piano: “But one new cycle sweeps all before it ….It’s decades since a pianist has managed to convey such an overwhelming sense that we’re listening to pure Beethoven - surely Tirimo’s 16-disc collection is the greatest recorded achievement of this anniversary year.”

And just a few months ago, in the Newsletter of the Chopin Society: "Martino’s recent Chopin recital proved him to be one of the finest pianists of our day. The performance showed a flawless technique and playing of great authority. Tirimo has, over a long career, performed virtually the entire piano repertoire. Such musicianship is very rare.”

You will not want to miss tonight's concert.
