Council proposing new active travel route through Palmers Green
Enfield Council's recently announced plans for a new cycling and walking route will mean that the important shopping, travel and employment hub at Southgate Circus will for the first time be safely accessible by bike from the Fox Lane LTN and Palmers Green. However, continuing the route east of PG to the Cambridge Roundabout will require bold measures to make Hazelwood Lane safe for cycling.

Yasar Halim owner criticises council over press release
First in a statement published on the Enfield Dispatch website, then in a further message sent to PGC, the owner of Yasar Halim complains that the council's press release about hygiene breaches at the Hedge Lane supermarket was misleading. Since the inspection in 2021 that discovered the breaches, they have made improvements and were awarded a 3-star hygiene rating in June 2022. The "issues" in 2021 arose, they say, "due to factors experienced by most businesses in the country with the perfect storm of Brexit, the loss of highly skilled migrant workers, and the impact of Covid".

Government rejects London Assembly call for devolution of suburban rail services
A call for devolution of suburban rail services was supported by all London Assembly members except Conservatives but has been rejected by ministers. Enfield & Haringey AM Joanne McCartney called service levels on the Great Northern Metro 'not acceptable'.
