tower blocks proposed for new southgateHow they might look in the future...

On Tuesday Enfield's planning committee voted unanimously in favour of an application to convert the former Homebase store in Station Road, New Southgate, into two smaller units, one to be occupied by an Aldi supermarket, the other by a branch of "variety store" B&M.

This will be a temporary arrangement pending comprehensive redevelopment of the site and the adjacent land that until this year was occupied by a local landmark - a gasholder dating from the 1930s. As reported in October, City & Suburban Homes hope to build a high-rise development comprising housing and commercial premises.
