Southgate Town Hall WW2 memorial photographed while in storage

The WW2 war memorial, photographed while in storage

On Wednesday 30th January, at 11am, a ceremony will be held to re-dedicate the Southgate Town Hall War Memorials.

The memorials will be unveiled by the Mayor of Enfield, in the presence of the families of some of the fallen.

The Southgate Town Hall War memorials commemorate employees of Southgate Council who died in action in the two World Wars. The memorials were installed within the main entrance to Southgate Town Hall until 2012, when the building was acquired for residential accommodation.  They were removed by Museum of Enfield staff and remained in storage until they were placed in the Palmers Green library on 9th November 2018 through the efforts of the Southgate District Civic Trust and the London Borough of Enfield.

Everyone is welcome to this ceremony and it is not necessary to book, but it would be helpful if you could e-mail Jane Maggs () if you are planning to attend.

The event will be in the library and should be accessed via the street level door (across the bridge).  If you have difficulty with the stairs, please use the ground floor entrance where someone will be able to show you the lift.
