While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.
Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.
For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.
Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions

Enfield Voices interview: Green Stars youth club at Palmers Green Mosque

Another of Francis Sealey's growing series of "webinars" - online interviews with local movers and shakers. This one is with Mehera Begun, who runs the Green Stars Youth Club at Palmers Green Mosque.
There’s been frequent comment about the slash and burn impact of austerity on such features as youth clubs / youth support and the impact that has on their own as well as wider community wellbeing. So I was so heartened to sit and listen to Mehera outline so many positives happening in PG.
I first came across Mehera when PG won the accolade to be London’s trial site for Play Quarters where she assisted quietly, without profile, behind the scenes supporting the project leader.
That followed really significant and successful work she instigated and led in the east end while living there.
She’s a community asset for PG and should be acknowledged as such; her and the others now assisting our younger people.
