Sex-themed supporters gathered in London last month to help give a Palmers Green man more time with his family

people with savethesexeditor2024 bannerOn 24th February two hundred "crazy people" wearing their "finest/most tasteless 80s/90s gear" gathered in central London for a sponsored walk. The theme? "Sex Education". The good cause? Raising funds needed by Palmers Green resident Steve Ackroyd, his wife Francesca and daughter Autumn to pay for Steve's treatment in Germany for an inoperable brain cancer. The link? Steve used to edit the hit Netflix series.

In a nutshell, the treatment is proving effective at prolonging Steve's life, but it is very expensive - costing £300,000 - and the only way that the family can afford it is through fundraising. Hence last month's Sex Education-themed walk and an ongoing crowdfunding campaign on the GoFundMe website.

Francesca says: "Although University College Hospital have been fantastic, the only treatment that is making a difference is the immunotherapy programme in Germany.

"This treatment has allowed Steve to do things he thought might not be possible - like seeing our twelve year old daughter Autumn start secondary school this year. We are so grateful to everyone who has donated so far, but we know we need to keep fundraising to give Steve as much time with us as possible."
