le grand jour signThe latest addition to Green Lanes brings a touch of France to Palmers Green.  Le Grand Jour, which opened today, is the brainchild of a patissier with extensive experience working in the south of France, including Marseille and Avignon.  The name means "Broad Daylight", but also carries suggestions of "Great Day".

The last business to occupy the site on the corner of Green Lanes and Devonshire Road was a betting shop with a distinctly uninviting interior.  Its replacement is a complete contrast.  A bright and welcoming cafe with a large range of French-style pastries and cakes, all made on the premises.

And there's further good news to come.  The former Waiting Rooms cafe at Palmers Green Station is currently being refurbished and will reopen soon as The Yard, described as a "a cocktail bar/ home made cooking / cafe / late night music venue".

More signs of a new dawn for Palmers Green?
