While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.

Enfield Council has announced that it will be accepting new applications to set up a Play Street until 30th April. Successful applications will be licensed to operate from 1 August 2017 until 31 July 2018.

If you live in an area that has already been leafleted, you have until the end of March to let the Council know what you think about Quieter Neighbourhoods
The areas include "Fox Lane", "Connaught Gardens", some parts of Bush Hill Park and Winchmore Hill

If you were wondering why trees and undergrowth are being cleared next to the section of the New River that runs parallel and close by Green Lanes, it's to create what is in effect a mini-park, with a path running between Barrowell Green and Carpenter Gardens, new trees that will provide better sight lines and new seating.
The improvement works are a joint project between Enfield Council and Thames Water.

Enfield's largest voluntary organisation is calling on "everyone who values the NHS to make their voices heard" and write in opposition to "misleading" proposals that "mean that patients will no longer be treated for conditions ranging from hearing loss to gallstones, knee replacement surgery to hernias until we are insevere pain or the deafness affects our independence and social life".

A senior Enfield councillor has backed this website's call for residents to be given more time to respond to a consultation about introducing stricter criteria for carrying out certain medical procedures on the NHS. The procedures in question include knee surgery, hernia operations, some types of breast restoration and surgical removal of scar tissue.

Talkies Community Cinema has never been known to rest on its laurels. This month the locally based "pop-up" cinema will be launching its third HERE film festival with a special event featuring for the first time a live orchestra. The film in question is of great historical importance and was itself a groundbreaking achievement when it was first shown just over a hundred years ago.
