An invitation to a New Orleans Jazz Party

Back in the day (a hundred years or so) in New Orleans, the birthplace of Jazz, a 'Professor' was someone who played piano in a brothel. In 2025, the considerably more prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance also has a Jazz Professor - and he's heading our way this month to institute a regular series of Jazz concerts at the Southgate Club. And where better to start, on Thursday 11th December, than with a celebration of a hundred years of music from the 'Crescent City'?

80 years of the United Nations marked in Broomfield Park ceremony

Local and regional representatives of the United Nations Association were joined by local politicians and citizens at a ceremony in Broomfield Park on 17th October to mark the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the UN. The ceremony included the unveiling of a restored birdbath that was presented to the citizens of Southgate in 1927 by the League of Nations Union.

Exploring Enfield's town and country on foot and by bike

On Sunday May 25th there'll be an opportunity to tour some of the borough's special places - both urban and rural - using the healthiest ways of getting around: walking and cycling. Choose between a guided walk around the Enfield Town Conservation Area with the Enfield Society or a marshalled ride along the New River and through Forty Hall and Hilly Fields parks with Better Streets for Enfield.
