get fit for a fiver flyerAn 8-week low-cost fitness programme starting next wee will help people get through the stressful times that we are experiencing. The outdoor sessions will not just be inexpensive (only £5 for 45 minutes), but are designed to suit people of all ages and fitness levels and fit into people's busy schedules - the classes will be held four days a week at various times of day.

Bryan Keye, the qualified Level 3 personal trainer behind Get Fit for a Fiver, thinks exercise and good health are key to dealing with the mental challenges many people face.

“Getting active is hugely beneficial for both our mental and physical health, helping reduce stress and ward off other illness such as heart disease and obesity. On top of this, spending time outside is proven to help us sleep better and feel more connected to the world away from our phones. I am really looking forward to helping people feel better and learn how to do daily exercises themselves at home”.

Bryan's views are shared by the medical profession. The launch of the new classes coincides with the start of a UK-wide scheme whereby GP practices are trialling “social prescriptions” for non-medical activities such as outdoor walking and exercise.

The classes will be held outdoors at Edmonton Sports & Social Club, where free parking and secure bike storage are available, and Bryan will be providing free one-to-one coaching after each session.

To start with, the sessions will run for eight weeks, up until the clocks go back at the end of October, but if there is sufficient demand Bryan would like to continue indoors over the winter (and during the initial eight weeks there will an indoor studio to fall back on if the weather is wet or too cold). Bryan also hopes to increase the number of sessions per day from one to two or three, again depending on demand.
