talkies here finale 2019Members of the Talkies team with this year's commissions winners

The 2019 HERE film festival ended on Saturday night with a sell-out audience filling St John's Hall in Bourne Hill for the premiere of this year's Talkies commissions.  The process for selecting film makers for the 2020 festival starts in the summer.

The 180-strong audience were treated to eight short films in total.  The first half consisted of previous films made by the winners of this year's commissions, then in the second half each of the newly commissioned films was followed by a Q&A session.

Talkies have so far commissioned 23 short films since the HERE film festival launched in 2015.  Applications for next year will open on 1st June and the winners will be announced in August.  Film makers do not need to live in or near Palmers Green, but their films must be shot in the area.  The four winning teams will received £500 each.  For details of the scheme and how to apply, visit talkies.org.uk/short-film-commission/apply.

If you're not a film maker but are a film goer, then one way you can support the Talkies' commissions is to become a Friend of Talkies.
