st harmonicas onlineMissing Friday nights at the Southgate Club watching the great bands playing at St Harmonica's? Well, we can't do anything about the lockdown, but we can do our best to recreate St Harmonica's in the comfort of your own home. So pour yourself a glass of beer, move the furniture aside to make yourself a dance floor, click on the first of the music videos below and start a text conversation with some of the people you usually meet up with at the club.

Friday 3rd April

This week's St Harmonica's Online was compiled by John Crowther, and exclusively features musicians who have played at St H's, or at one of our associated events such at Broomfield Blues, the Black Barn, etc. The material was already available on YouTube, but wasn't necessarily recorded at our venue.

You can watch the videos on this website or you can go to the YouTube playlist.

The Blues Chapter: Offshore Blues

Excellent original material from one of North London's favourite young(ish!) blues bands.

Guy Tortora - Boneyard

Live version of the award-nominated song from his fabulous album Bluesman.

The Cinelli Brothers - Choo Ma Gum

Very new music from a deliberately old-school band.

Frankie Connolly Band - Many Rivers To Cross(Jimmy Cliff; and a nod to Peter Green)

- when he first played at St Harmonicas, aged 17, our collective jaws hit the floor; here's why.

Spikedrivers & Fran McGillivray and Mike Burke: Take My Hand

These days, better known to us as Saints & Sinners; how many other bands boast two female bass-players??

Born Healer - 'Til The Dawn

Live version of the title track from their excellent CD, recorded at the 100 Cub.

Doc K's Blues Band - Little Red Rooster (Willie Dixon)

A band with a pedigree stretching back to the 1960s, performing at our 2010 bluesfest at the Intimate Theatre, Palmers Green.

Ben Tyzack & Guy Tortora - Police Dog Blues (Blind Blake)

How come they play so many songs from my repertoire? No wonder I love them.

Delta Echoes - Can't Be Satisfied (Muddy Waters)

Richard Scruton (sadly missed) & Stuart Cumberpatch with some lovely vintage guitars.

Low Down Dogs - How Long Blues (Blackwell & Carr)

Some of my favourite collaborators from St Harm; shame about the ropey banjo-killer.

Frankie Connolly

Frankie Connolly wraps it all up with a Louis Jordan classic. I hope we manage to Let The Good Times Roll again soon.
