While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.
Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.
For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.
Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions
This week there have been two instances in Palmers Green of cars mounting the pavement and causing damage. Fortunately, it seems that in neither case were there any injuries to people walking along the pavement - but if there had been, they would probably have been killed or seriously injured.
The first incident happened in Fox Lane on Sunday evening. After hitting and wrecking a parked car, the car that was out of control ended up damaging railings adjacent to the railway bridge. .......

Living Streets, the "UK Charity for Everyday Walking", has published a Blueprint for Change, designed as a guide for city leaders to help them create Walking Cities:

Living Streets' Chief Executive, Joe Irvin, sets out the charity's rationale:
Our streets deserve to be so much more than corridors for.......
As part of the Cycle Enfield works, resurfacing of Green Lanes at and near the junction with Station Road and Fords Grove will be carried out overnight for four nights starting on Monday 10th April. Buses 329 and N29 will be diverted away from Winchmore Hill between 8pm and 5am.

The deadline for objecting to width restrictions in Connaught Gardens, Munster Gardens and Hazelwood Lane is Wednesday 29th March
Consultation on Quieter Neighbourhood measures for these streets is still running - so why the rush to install width restrictions?
Better Streets for Enfield say width restrictions are hazardous and want to see more effective measures to cut through traffic
The Quieter Neighbourhoods survey also ends this week - on Friday
To object to the width restrictions.......

If you live in an area that has already been leafleted, you have until the end of March to let the Council know what you think about Quieter Neighbourhoods
The areas include "Fox Lane", "Connaught Gardens", some parts of Bush Hill Park and Winchmore Hill
Better Streets for Enfield have drawn up some suggestions for making the most of this opportunity
Is your neighbourhood affected by too much traffic? If it’s fast or heavy enough that you wouldn’t feel confident cycling.......
Enfield Council has relaunched its Quieter Neighbourhoods (QNs) project, an important element of its Mini Holland bid which has been on hold since early 2015. Leaflets will soon be posted through doors of people living in the first areas to be surveyed and it is already possible to fill in an online Residents' Perception Survey.
The thinking behind the QNs schemes is summed up on the Cycle Enfield website:
We're working with residents to make their streets quieter and safer. By.......
As reported earlier, Enfield Council will resume work on creating Quieter Neighbourhoods with the next few weeks. Although the residents-led workshop approach will now not be used and the Council will be coming up with proposals and seeking feedback, this still leaves room for residents to float their own ideas before the Council sets out theirs.
One resident of Old Park Road has done just that, and has produced some concept visualisations designed to spark up discussions with.......
Now that construction of cycle lanes is finally under way, Enfield Council will shortly be making announcements about the other important aspect of its Cycle Enfield/Mini Holland project - measures to set up a network of Quieter Neighbourhoods throughout the borough.
