At the next meeting of Enfield Council's Environment Forum, on Tuesday 25th April, councillors and other participants in the forum will be given a briefing about buildings, parks, conservation areas and other structures in the borough that are included in Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register for London and SE England.

In response to a complaint from the Friends of the Lakes Estate Conservation Area about unauthorised tree surgery, an Enfield council officer has written warning against scams operated by rogue tree surgeons - in this case, by a firm called Acacia Tree Surgery.

Southgate District Civic Trust has restated its commitment to fight proposals for a development incorporating three towers, including one 17 storeys high, close to the Southgate Circus Conservation Area, and has launched a campaign to raise money to help it argue its case at a planning panel to be held next month. Revised proposals submitted by the developer last week include a reduction in the height of the towers, but not by a large enough amount to satisfy opponents.

Ahead of a speech in London on Tuesday 3rd October to an audience of heritage professionals, Ian Harvey, Executive Director of Civic Voice, has called for an end to the continued cutting of local conservation officers in local government and launched a survey to investigate the impact. Artist Gabriela Schutz has been working on two detailed panoramas of shopfronts and houses in Myddleton Road, Bowes Park, executed in pencil, and each 7.2 metres long.  They will go on show at Bruce Castle Museum in May. In the meantime, watch this video in which Gabriela talks about the project and you can see it taking shape........

Southgate Green's new Christmas Tree before installation of lights.  It will be officially inaugurated on 20th December The Southgate Green Association (SGA) will today be singing in an impressive new "Christmas Tree" - an 18-foot Norwegian Spruce - with the help of the choir from neighbouring Christ Church, augmented by anyone else who would like to come along and join in.  The ceremony and carol singing will start at 6.30pm. SGA was able to buy and plant the tree thanks.......

Enfield Council has sent out a "neighbour letter" with information about how to comment on Berkeley Homes' planning application for development of Trent Park mansion and the former university campus.
