Fancy playing a part in a panto? Intrigued? Then go along to a read through of the script in Southgate on 30th August. Never been on stage before? No matter, everyone and anyone will be welcome!

smp theatre logo no padding 511pxThe show is The Little Mermaid, performance dates will be in January 2024 and the group putting it on is SMP Theatre - formerly known as St Monica's Players and celebrated for their musicals and their annual panto, which used to be staged at the Intimate Theatre until Palmers Green's historic venue closed in 2019. The Players haven't moved far though - just to the Millfield Theatre in Silver Street, Edmonton.

Lucy from SMP Players explains:

"The read through on Wednesday 30th August will be at the Scout Hut at the Walker Cricket Ground in Waterfall Road.

"It's an opportunity for people to have a read of the script, see what the production team has in store and ultimately decide if they would like to audition and for which character.

"We're looking for new people to join the cast this year, whether they’ve done any acting/singing/dancing before or this would be their debut performance. Really everyone and anyone is welcome!."

We've got the Panto, now all we need is YOU!

The Little Mermaid e1689509268306

If you have a dramatic flare, sing along to all the songs and dance while nobody (and everybody) is watching, then you need to join SMP's latest production.

No previous Panto experience necessary!

  • Will Ariel get some legs?
  • Will the Prince kiss the girl?
  • And what exactly is a thingamabob?!

Learn the answer to at least one of these questions at our SMP Little Mermaid read through!

This is a chance for you to see what exciting ideas our production team have planned for this yea'rs panto, read through the script (hence the name) and ask any questions you have about the production.

An opportunity for you to see what's in store for each character, see which ones compliment your skills and which one you would like to audition for at our...auditions!

A few things to note:

  • The read through is for all ages interested in the show, however only over 16s can audition for the lead roles and main cast
  • Children's roles and chorus will therefore be auditioned slightly differently - find out more at the read through.

We're so excited and we can't wait to see you there.
