While we admire and support the Christmas campaigns that we see pop up in December, we also know that help is urgently needed all year round, each and every year. As some people pack away after the festive break, we are still here.
Our support is not limited to a food package, but it leaps beyond - we form connections, we listen and respond to everyone who steps through our doors. We open up a warm, safe, environment which aims to feel like a home away from home.
For us to continue to thrive and grow, and keep supporting as many people as possible, we are asking you to become a Friend of Cooking Champions. Even a donation of just £5-10 per month can make a HUGE impact on the lives of those who come through our doors.
Pop to our People's Fundraising page to donate, and we promise to keep you updated with how your support is making a difference. Thank you, we appreciate you! Team Cooking Champions

Surveyors working with London Wildlife Trust’s Water for Wildlife project spotted a pair of willow emerald damselflies whilst looking for dragonflies and damselflies in Clissold Park, Hackney, in late September. By tracking such insects the project is mapping out the health of London’s freshwater ecosystems.
Research volunteer Sonja Todd spotted the male and female willow emerald damselfly in reeds growing in the New River in the park.

The Pinkham Way Alliance has issued a campaign update to its supporters, coupled with a suggestion of how people can help reduce the scandalous waste of food that occurs in London.
First news on the results of the hearing
Do you want the good news, or the bad news? I’ve got both, arising from the hearing in front of the Planning Inspector in August.
To recap, she examined aspects of Haringey’s Local Plan. The Council had included Pinkham Way in its ‘Site.......

The current phase of the public consultation about Govia's proposals for changes to rail timetables from 2018 finishes at 5pm on Thursday 8th December.
Under the proposals, offpeak services between Palmers Green and Moorgate will be doubled. However, at some other stations along the line the increase will be smaller and offpeak frequencies may even be reduced.
The proposed Monday to Saturday offpeak services would be six trains an hour, made up of:

"Fun, Freedom and Play" is the motto for a pilot project aimed at giving back to children some of their lost freedom which launches this month in Palmers Green.
Palmers Green Play Quarter will run until May 2017 and its organisers are seeking help and advice from residents and business owners to make sure it gets off to a good start.
The charity behind the scheme, Play London, has appointed a part-time project worker, Catherine Nicholson, to get the ball rolling (both figuratively and.......
If you're planning to send charity Christmas cards this year, be careful where you buy them from! If you purchase them from a well-known High Street name, the chances are that most of the money you spend will go to the retailer, not to the charity. Very few shops pass on more than 25 per cent of the selling price to the named charity, and the average figure is actually closer to 10 per cent.
The alternative is to buy from a pop-up charity Christmas card shop run by Cards for Good.......
The owners of Osidge (previously the site of the Thomas Lipton Memorial Home) have submitted a new planning application which they hope will overcome the criticisms of the previous application that were made by Barnet Council planning officers:
“Demolition of 3 no. existing buildings and conversion of Osidge House to Class C3 residential use providing 16 no. self-contained flats. Erection of 3-storey apartment building to provide 8 no. self-contained flats. Erection of 3 no. 3-storey.......
Enfield Council have recently clarified what exactly is allowed in the blue recycling wheelie bins. The main change is that plastic bags (including carrier bags) and plastic wrapping are no longer allowed, because other materials were being caught up in them.
For obvious reasons, the Council are adamant that nappies, even if unused, must not go in the blue bins, and the same is true of sanitary products. The Council is taking a "Zero Tolerance" approach because of the problems such.......
