Enfield Council has launched a new consultation to gauge views about events held in the borough's parks.  Responses will guide the drafting of a Park Events Strategy document covering the period 2017 to 2022.

Questions relate to the following:

  • The classification of events as "small", "medium", "large" and "major" events depending on the number of visitors per day
  • Whether there should be a limit on the number of major and large events and what that limit should be
  • Whether there should be a minimum 2-weekend gap between any two major events
  • Whether to charge event organisers fees for set up and clear down days for “major events” and penalise organisers who overrun
  • Whether to continue to charge organisers of major events an environmental fee, the proceeds from which are reinvested into parks
  • Whether to set longer deadlines for event applications
  • Whether to require organisers of non-licensable large or major events to notify all adjacent residents in writing a minimum of 28 days in advance of the event
  • Whether there should be separate processes for events on "village greens"  (Chase Green, Southgate Green, and The Green in Winchmore Hill)
