There'll be a chance to share a court with professionals and to try out other sports, plus activities for kids. Money raised will go towards new courts and the launch of tennis coaching for disabled people.

2021 sees the tenth anniversary of the Met's Christmas Appeal, which has so far provided more than 116,000 presents for children in need. This year there are nearly 17,000 children (aged from birth to 17 years old) to provide a gift for. These children come from many different backgrounds. Many live in poverty, in refuges or are child carers, and some live in children's homes. The one thing they all have in common is that they are all children in need living in London.

A new series of cooking lessons for kids starts next month in Grange Park, taught by the amazing local community interest company Cooking Champions. Students will learn how to prepare a range of different foods and dishes while picking up cooking skills that they can use more widely.

A group comprising parents of children at Hazelwood School and nearby residents are asking the public to sign a petition to Enfield Council in support of the Hazelwood Lane Project, which was launched this week to coincide with Walk to School Week.It proposes major improvements to pavements, road crossings and public spaces between Green Lanes and Hazelwood School, all of which are currently in a very poor state. The objective is to encourage sustainable and active travel, reduce the number of car drop-offs outside the school and make it easier for children to travel to school independently.

The London Child Obesity Task Force wants to get all primary and secondary school children across London to only drink water when they're in school. This would put an end to selling and drinking fizzy drinks in London's schools. They are running a competition asking primary and secondary school children to help develop an advertising campaign - one that can inspire everyone between the ages of 4 and 18 in London to drink only water in school.

Chickenshed has opened booking for the autumn season of Sunday Shed workshops for kids, whether little or big (ages 5 to 18). These are drop-in sessions designed to spark an interest in many aspects of performance - acting, dance, music - and develop skills and confidence (not to mention having a lot of fun on the side).
