St Harmonica's Blues Club: Low Down Dogs + Pat Crilly & Paul Hillder

Friday 12 May 2023 8.30pm

The Southgate Club, 17 Chase Side, N14 5BP (Entrance is in Crown Lane)

202305 low down dogs

This Friday sees the return of the Low Down Dogs to St Harmonica’s Blues Club. Surprisingly, this band hasn’t played at the club since December 2021 and they’re looking forward to bringing you their eclectic take on Blues from the Mississippi Delta to the New River Delta via many places in between. Equally at home with acoustic material, plaintive slow blues and rocking classics, the Low Down Dogs bring discerning musicianship to their act. Mad Dog Dave Barnes, the godfather of North London Blues, brings his sublime vocals, harmonica and slide guitar to the party alongside John Crowther on vocals, guitar and mandolin, while the rhythm section is provided by Dave Thomas, electric and acoustic bass, and Peter Abernethy, drums and percussion. Expect some new material alongside the usual favourites from the Dogs, with all members sharing vocal duties.

We’re delighted to welcome back the superb Pat Crilly with Paul Hilder, aka ‘Knuckles & Nails’ to provide magnificent support to the whole evening.

Support act starts at 8.30pm, followed by two sets from the main act starting around 9.15pm.

Admission is free to card holding St Harmonica’s Blues Club Members (membership costs just £10 for the year) otherwise £10 on the door. The hat is passed around to pay for the musicians.

See you soon,

Dave, Simon, & John
