As has been the case on second Sundays for a good few years, on 14th May the Food Gatherer will be running a farmers' market at Forty Hall Farm. But a novelty this month will be a new climate-friendly and family-friendly way of getting there. The Family Bike Club is organising a ride up to Forty Hall from their base next to Enfield Chase Station, using a quiet low-traffic route and led by a highly experienced cycling instructor and cycle ride marshal.

One month until the festivals season starts in Broomfield Park. This year's Summer Festival follows the same successful formula as last year's - something for all ages and tastes: a mixture of live music, open-air theatre and musicals and fine dining under the apple trees. Then on 3rd September - the return of the Big One - the Palmers Green Festival itself!

Visitors to last weekend's Palmers Green Spring Market, which saw the recently created Devonshire Square filled with traders, shoppers and musicians, were treated to an unscheduled appearance and impromptu performance by singer, multi-instrumentalist and former PG resident Freya Riding when she dropped by at the market.

A fully marshalled community bike ride on 30th April will be a chance to explore cycle lanes in eastern Enfield and the new wetlands in Albany Park - and an opportunity to try out an e-bike for free! And if you live in PG you can join a feeder ride outside the Fox to get you to the start of the main ride in Edmonton.

There will be events for gardeners and music lovers, as well as for kids and for people of all ages wishing to improve their artistic or culinary skills.

It was a day for celebrations in Southgate on Sunday, as people got together to mark the 90th anniversary of the first day of operation of the Piccadilly Line extension from Arnos Grove to Oakwood, and in particular the opening of Southgate Station. Naturally, there was a birthday cake, created by local shop Wiltons.

At 2.30 on Sunday 12th March, people will come together to sing Happy Birthday to Southgate Station, marking 90 years, less one day, since its first day in passenger operation in 1933. The sing-a-long will be just over half way through a day of celebration and festivities, which will include behind-the-scenes tours of the striking Streamline Moderne station (book now or you'll miss your chance).

Women (and their allies) will be pedalling around the streets of central London in their thousands on Sunday 5th March. The occasion? In the run-up to International Women's Day a chance to get together and have a lot of fun, but also to send a serious message to the Mayor and council leaders throughout the capital about the gender gap in safe cycling provision.

On the Tuesday after Christmas eighty plus people, young and not so young, responded to an invitation to 'work off the Christmas pud' by taking part in a community bike ride around traffic calmed streets in Bounds Green and Bowes.

On the afternoon and evening of Thursday 1st December Upper Edmonton's streets will be filled with joyous and fun activities. Visitors will be invited into brilliant spaces and shops on Fore Street for some creative, entertaining and thought-provoking experiences. There will be live music, performances, exhibitions, crafts, food and drink, silent discos, reindeers, a town crier, and more.

Nightingale Cancer Support Centre celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and its popular Night Hike is back after a two-year gap. On Friday 20th May hundreds of people will be walking the 10K or 15K Night Hike route around our beautiful borough raising money for this wonderful charity. Why not join in the fun?

Local artists and photographers are being invited to take part in north London's first Citizens Art Festival, which will be held in Wood Green from 7th to 10th April. The festival will feature both an exhibition in the impressive third-floor gallery at the Green Rooms hotel and three days of art workshops and activities at Wood Green's unique 'meanwhile space', Blue House Yard. Both venues are in Station Road, only a few minutes walk from Wood Green station.
