During May Friends of Broomfield Park invited people to send them photographs for a Virtual Flower Show. For June the focus will be on trees, starting with this amazing shot by Tracey Kelly.

2020 is turning out to be the year when everything goes virtual/online. The latest to join the trend are the Friends of Broomfield Park. While you can still visit the actual, real, physical park (taking social distancing precautions, of course), the Friends this week launched their Virtual Flower Show, which you can take part in and enjoy without leaving home.

Inspired by the wonderful wetlands in Firs Farm, this is our second Firs Farm photography competition. If you've never entered a photographic competition before this is an ideal opportunity to start. The competition will take place as part of the Firs Farm Wetlands 'Get out & Get active' project on 12th May 2019. So come on, get out and capture your Wetlands inspiration!

The Lamb Festival: An Arts Festival at All Saints, Edmonton, to celebrate the lives and legacies of Charles and Mary Lamb. The Friends of Broomfield Park have announced the results of their 2016 Photo Competition. The winner in the Adult category was Munise Cebesi for entry No 47: The winner in the Under 16 category was Alize Akturk for a photograph entitled Perspective Runners up in the adult category were David Sumeray (entry No 13) and Sandra Roberts (entry No 29). For the third year running All Saints Church in Edmonton will be hosting the Lamb Festival, celebrating local literary celebrities Charles and Mary Lamb. The Festival will run from Saturday 18th June to Friday 24th June, starting with a Fair on the Saturday afternoon.  Other highlights will include the young performers from Iconic Arts, jewellery making with Zinfinity, a guided walk with Joe Studman, the Carers UK poetry evening, and music from the Tottenham Community Choir, and.......

The Friends of Arnos Park are running a photographic competition.  The best picture illustrating "The Joys of Arnos Park" will win an Amazon voucher worth £25. Breaking with their tradition of running photographic competitions over the winter, the Friends of Broomfield Park have announced that this year the competition will take place during the summer. Prizes will be awarded in two categories:  Adults and Under 16s.  You can enter up to three pictures, which must be taken "of the Park or in the Park" between 1st June and the closing date for entries, which is 22nd August. Southgate District Civic Trust and Enfield Grammar School are combining to place a local blue plaque on the house where pioneer wildlife photographer Oliver Pike (1877-1963) lived with his family from 1882 to 1914, 96 Green Dragon Lane in Winchmore Hill, which was the location for his early natural history photographs and books. The beautiful Broomfield Conservatory is at its best in this sunny weather.  Both visitors and the conservatory's collection of exotic plants are enjoying the light and warmth, and currently there's an extra treat for visitors - an exhibition of photographs submitted to the Friends of Broomfield Park's second annual photocompetition. The Friends' committee members have, with great difficulty, shortlisted eleven of the 85 entries to the competition, printed them out and put them on display.......

"Sunset" by Steve Harrison - winner of the Friends of Broomfield Park photographic competition Visitors to Broomfield Park this spring and summer will find the park rather less colourful than usual.  Funding cutbacks by Enfield Council have led to a two-thirds reduction in the number of bedding plants being planted out this year - across the Borough as a whole the budget allocation for flowers in parks has been reduced from £24,000 to £8,000.  The result will be many.......
