Big Green Climate Festival: Stop the Edmonton Incinerator!
Sunday 26 September 2021 2.00pm - 4.00pm
Edmonton Methodist Church Hall, 304 Fore Street N9 0PN
Campaigners are calling for the construction of a new waste-burning power station in Edmonton to be paused because of mounting evidence of the harm it will cause to public health, the climate and public finances. They are concerned that public consultation, especially amongst those that will live in the shadow of the greatly enlarged incinerator, has been limited. And they are urging the authorities to consider green alternatives.
Seven councils are involved in the project – Enfield, Barnet, Haringey, Waltham Forest, Camden, Hackney and Islington. They are going ahead with plans to demolish the existing incinerator in Edmonton with construction of the new plant to begin in the next year or two.
Come and listen to the pros and cons of the proposals. And have your say.
