St Harmonica's Blues Club: The Spikedrivers + That Blue Patch

The Southgate Club, 17 Chase Side, N14 5BP (Entrance is in Crown Lane)

We're looking forward to this Friday when one of the classiest acts on the Blue & Roots scene play St Harmonica’s. Spikedrivers are a band whose music has been described as 'haunting', 'gutsy', 'tribal' and even psychedelic. Blues in Britain says, “From the first note, Spikedrivers demand to be listened to. Ben Tyzack, Constance Redgrave and Maurice McElroy are three very talented musicians willing to experiment and evoke unusual contemporary sounds while they continue to keep diggin’ the blues by the roots.” From the early blues of Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker and Big Bill Broonzy they have added their own blend of north African and Native American rhythms, gospel harmonies, sixties blues and rock guitar. They’ve been compared to The Band, Led Zeppelin, Ry Cooder, JJ Cale, Fleetwood Mac and even Pink Floyd. It all adds up to simply the Spikedrivers.

Support comes from That Blue Patch. The quirky and eclectic music of Ruth Mignano and Dave Buckwell.

Admission is by ticket only at £10.00

We are working closely with the Southgate Club to make sure everyone feels comfortable and can remain as safe as possible. Capacity is now 100 so the room will still not feel too crowded; table service has ended (although no sitting at the bar); there is no limit to numbers at tables, and dancing is back on the agenda. We still suggest face coverings when moving around, but this is up to you.

Doors are at 7.45pm with support act at 8.30 followed by two sets from the main act.

In the unlikely event that the gig has to be cancelled due to Covid we'll immediately offer a full refund.

St Harmonica's at the Southgate Club

St Harmonica's is at the Southgate Club on Fridays - apart from the first Friday of the month. Instead of the first Friday of the month, St Harmonica's will be two days later, ie the Sunday after the first Friday (which in some months will be the second Sunday of the month).

St Harmonica's will be sending out the link to book through their weekly email. To subscribe visit eepurl.com/gt8UtP

We value our partnership with the Southgate Club and are working together to make sure everyone feels comfortable and can remain as safe as possible.
