The Big Help Out: Family wild flowers, butterflies and wildlife volunteering event in Broomfield Park

Monday 8 May 2023 11.00am - 3.00pm

Meet at Gazebo in the Broomfield Park walled garden (near the Conservatory)

Activities start at 11am, but the team will be there to greet you at the gazebo in the walled garden throughout the event.

Activities will include:

  • twig and stick collection from the hedgerows around the park combined with a litter pick
  • creation of a log pile for insects and wildlife (butterflies, frogs and hedgehogs among others)
  • planting of wildflower plugs on the wetland borders (certain plant species to support breeding areas for particular butterflies)
  • establish a site to seed a nettle bed (in a protected area)

Wear suitable clothing for gardening, such as hard-wearing footwear and gardening gloves. Bring your own refreshments, including water.
